Ford Modifies Railcars to Ship New Ford Transit Van

NORWALK, Ohio - When it came to shipping the all-new 2015 Transit, Ford engineers faced a little bit of a challenge. As awesome as it is to be able to offer customers the best-in-class interior cargo height with both medium and high-roof heigh options, these vans could not be shipped in traditional railcars and trucks. With the help of railroad and railcar manufacturers, Ford engineers developed a solution and created a modified railcar to ship the new Ford Transit Van in. 

The inner decks of each of the railcars have been lowered, allowing for as many as seven medium - and high-roof Transit vans to be loaded onto the lower deck at a time. There is even space for as many as seven smaller vehicles, like the Ford Fusion, to be loaded onto the top deck at the same time. Modifications of the railcar have only been made on the inside, so height will not be an issue when going through overpasses and tunnels. 

With this innovative method for Transit transportation, Ford is able to deliver Transit vehicles to the dealers more efficiently and at a lower cost.  Dealers that are within a 500-mile radius of the Kansas City Assembly Plant, where the Transit is being produced, will have the Transit delivered by truck. Shipments over 500 miles will be delivered by the railcar. By Ford optimizing the balance of rail and truck transportation and utilizing resources responsibly, they will be able to continue to support their Blueprint for Sustainability.

Camouflaged 2017 Ford Mustang SVT Prototype Spotted Testing

NORWALK, Ohio - A Camouflaged 2017 Ford Mustang SVT Prototype has been Spotted Testing and Ford is doing all they can to keep every inch of the vehicle under wraps.  This isn't the first time the SVT Mustang has been caught out and about, however, this is the first prototype that has been seen wearing all of the appropriate body work. This model had a heavily-camouflaged front end to cover what seemed to be a more distinctive nose, which would make for larger air intakes and possibly a grille-less hood opening. The prototype appears to have a large hood power bulge, air intakes on top of the front quarter panels, as well as a big heat extractor near the hood's leading edge.

The 2017 Ford Mustang SVT Prototype is also showing a wider body and more camo than before and is more than likely holding a supercharged 5.8-liter V-8 under the hood. The V-8 reportedly contains a Ferrari-like flat-plane crank, a 7000 rpm redline and horsepower figures north of 660-hp. The 2015 Ford Mustang SVT is expected to be debuted next year and head into production in 2017. Until then, all we can do is wait and rely on the spy shots!

Ford Releases Video of 2015 F-150 Testing

NORWALK, Ohio - Ford has Released a Video of the 2015 F-150 Testing at the "Bald Mountain" gold mine in Elko, Nevada. Bald Mountain, an open-pit, heap leach gold mine, is located in the Southern Ruby Mountains of northwest Nevada. This location, owned by Barrick Gold Corporation, is used to experiment with Ford Motor Company's new F-150 trucks and see if they can handle the conditions of one of their most demanding customers - the mining industry. Barrick Gold employees pushed the 2015 F-150 to the limit, accumulating roughly 200,000 of the 10 million miles of testing that must be done before the F-150 rolls out of production later this year.

Ford China Gains Momentum With May Sales Up 32 Percent

NORWALK, Ohio - Ford China gains momentum with May sales up 32 Percent and 92,323 wholesales sold compared to 70,449 wholesales in May 2013. Ford's large improvement in sales is directly related to their commitment to bringing the best of Ford to China. Ford will proudly continue to to offer a lineup of high quality, fuel efficient, technologically advanced, world class safety vehicles to China customers as long as they decide that Ford vehicles are their first choice to power their lives. The Ford Mondeo and Ford Focus, both with top notch fuel-efficiency, safety, quality and smart technologies, continued to be hot commodities in China last month. Sales for the Ford Mondeo nameplate went up a massive 90 percent with 10,395 vehicles sold! Ford Focus had sold 33,341 vehicles, up 22 percent from May 2013. 

Both Ford's passenger car joint venture, Changan Ford Automobile (CAF), and their commercial vehicle investment in China, Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC), continued to grow steadily throughout the month of May. CAF sold 67,454 vehicles in May, up 32 percent from last year, and increased year-to-date sales by 43 percent. JMC had a 25 percent rise in sales, selling 21,342 vehicles compared to the 17,057 vehicles that were sold in May 2013. Year-to-date sales were also up 21 percent with 113,926 total vehicles sold.
