Ford China Gains Momentum With May Sales Up 32 Percent

NORWALK, Ohio - Ford China gains momentum with May sales up 32 Percent and 92,323 wholesales sold compared to 70,449 wholesales in May 2013. Ford's large improvement in sales is directly related to their commitment to bringing the best of Ford to China. The Ford Mondeo and Ford Focus, both with top notch fuel-efficiency, safety, quality and smart technologies, continued to be hot commodities in China last month. Sales for the Ford Mondeo nameplate went up a massive 90 percent with 10,395 vehicles sold! Ford Focus had sold 33,341 vehicles, up 22 percent from May 2013. 

Both Ford's passenger car joint venture, Changan Ford Automobile (CAF), and their commercial vehicle investment in China, Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC), continued to grow steadily throughout the month of May. CAF sold 67,454 vehicles in May, up 32 percent from last year, and increased year-to-date sales by 43 percent. JMC had a 25 percent rise in sales, selling 21,342 vehicles compared to the 17,057 vehicles that were sold in May 2013. Year-to-date sales were also up 21 percent with 113,926 total vehicles sold.
