NORWALK, Ohio - Ford Motor Company has partnered up with Automatic Labs, creator of a plug-in car knowledge gadget, to bring customers an even smarter AND safer driving experience. Lincoln and Ford vehicles are getting connected with Apple's Siri with help from a small device that plugs into a port below the steering wheel. This gadget connects the driver's iPhone with their vehicle's onboard computer, providing them with full access to Siri and all of the features she has to offer while behind the wheel.

As we know, Ford and Lincoln vehicles already have the ability to make calls, play music and give directions by voice command with the SYNC AppLink. However with this new application, drivers won't need to take their hands off of the wheel to access their iPhone for other tasks because Apple's Siri will be available with the press of a button. Lincoln and Ford vehicles can get connected with Apple's Siri by simply pushing the press-to-talk button on the steering wheel. Regardless if you want to know the news or the weather, you can have Siri at your disposal without ever taking your eyes off the road.

The connectivity list of this $99.95 app will grow over the next few months, however right now the app is only compatible with the iOS 8 update and vehicles with either SYNC or MyFord Touch. These Lincoln & Ford vehicles include:

NORWALK, Ohio - Ford Motor Company has officially announced availability of their Surveillance Mode technology to competitive vehicle manufacturers. Surveillance Mode was developed to warn law enforcement officers of unexpected approaches from behind the vehicle. This was first introduced on the 2014 Ford Police Interceptor and now Ford is hoping to globally expand adoption of the multi-patent-pending technology to law enforcement offices and military personnel.

Ford has made their award-winning Surveillance Mode technology available to competitors to help improve safety and security of all police offers, regardless if they are driving a Ford Police Interceptor or a competitive vehicle. Ford Motor Company and InterMotive Inc. worked together to create a top-of-the-line system using the already-existing rearview camera and radar. If a person were to approach the vehicle from behind, the system will sound a chime, roll up the driver's side window, lock all of the vehicle's doors and flash the exterior lighting.

The main purpose of Ford's award-winning Surveillance Mode technology is to improve situational awareness for officers and eliminate potential threats while in their vehicle. First Truck Customer of "You Test" Campaign Puts 2015 F-150 to the Test

NORWALK, Ohio - "Built Ford Tough" isn't just a tagline anymore, it is a guarantee that Ford vehicles get the job done. To prove it, Ford Motor Company kicked off the start of their "You Test" campaign a few months back, where truck enthusiasts submitted videos describing how they would test the strength of the all-new 2015 F-150. Choosing those four lucky winners wasn't easy, as Ford had to sift through 15,000 submissions. 

But now after months of anticipation, Ford finally released the video of the first truck customer of the "You Test" campaign putting the 2015 F-150 to the test. Brian Schober, a systems engineer in Yuma, Arizona, knows a thing or two about pickup trucks. His job requires driving roughly 350 miles a day on gravel and dirt roads while hauling parts and people; causing him to go through 13 vehicles in the last year and a half. He was a perfect "You Test" applicant that could surely put the 2015 F-150 to the test.

Ford Entering "Green Zone" to Improve Efficiency of Electric Vehicles

NORWALK, Ohio - Ford Motor Company will never quit, even when they are ahead. As the company continuously looks for alternatives to improve efficiency, intelligence and safety while driving, Ford is now focusing on getting their battery-based vehicles into the "Green Zone". 

Drivers of battery-based vehicles all use their vehicles differently. Many drivers will see that their vehicle is most efficient when operated at slower speeds, especially in stop-and-go driving, than at highway speeds. On the other hand, some owners may choose to wait to utilize the batteries for driving through specific areas towards the end of their commute. Ford entering the "Green Zone" can improve efficiency of electric vehicles and eliminate the need for the driver manually switching back and forth between gas and batteries. 

Ford Green Zone, a subsidiary of Nokia technology, provides underlying mapping information that would factor in things such as traffic congestion and the grade of the roadway itself to determine when it is most efficient to use battery or gas power. Rather than having to manually switch back and forth, motorists could use their navigation screen - or a website - to set up specific zones where the vehicle would automatically use battery power. 

The Ford Green Zone system could potentially offer HUGE advantages to both plug-in hybrid AND conventional vehicles. Nokia's mapping data is so precise, it would know when a car is approaching a hill or coming to a corner. This information could then be used to shift where headlights are pointing or change gears to achieve maximum mileage. Although Ford programmers still have a few challenges ahead, like how to handle winding roads that may be cut in and out of the green zone, they are confident that the Green Zone technology will be eventually offered in some of its products.
