Ford Could Bring Back the Iconic Bronco

NORWALK, OH - In its heyday the Ford Bronco was one of the most popular car models in the United States, now word has leaked that Ford could bring back the iconic Bronco along with the Ford Ranger. Earlier this week, we blogged about how Ford Motor Co. was in talks with the UAW to bring back the midsize Ford Ranger, and now many auto-insiders believe that an announcement regarding the once celebrated Bronco could be making a return as well!

According to an auto-insider source, the new Bronco will likely be a midsize affair comparable in size to Ford's popular Explorer. However, unlike the Explorer — which is now a crossover — the Bronco will be based on a midsize pickup truck. The only issue is that currently, Ford has no midsize truck offered in its lineup — enter the Ford Ranger.  Sources say that the UAW and Ford are working towards bringing the Ranger back by 2018, and this means that Bronco could have a midsize-truck base model to work off of. 

Since the 1980's through 2011, the Ford Bronco has always been a popular model, one that auto-insiders and Ford Motor Co. enthusiasts have always appreciated. Unlike the Ranger however, the Ford Bronco will compete directly with the recently revived GM Colorado/Canyon. 

The fact that Ford could bring back the iconic Bronco is exciting in itself, however paired with the rumors circulating about a return of the Ford Ranger as well? Let's just say it's been an emotional week for Ford enthusiasts, ourselves included!

Ford Motor Co. has Plans To Resurrect the Ford Ranger Stateside

NORWALK, OH - It looks like a truck long thought of as dead-zoned in the United States might be brought to life very, VERY quickly! Ford Motor Co. has plans to resurrect the Ford Ranger stateside, after rumors circulated yesterday throughout the UAW.

Recently it was reported that the Michigan-based automaker entered contract negotiations with the United Auto Workers with plans to bring the popular Ranger to the Michigan Assembly Plant near Dearborn, Mich., for 2018. The nature of the talks are indeed very sensitive and secretive, thus no "official" word from Ford or the UAW has been given to the press, but these rumors seem to be sticking.

The Ranger would replace both the Focus and C-Max after production of both of those models would likely head south to Mexico. The midsize truck segment is currently booming with popularity, and the Ranger represents the type of high-profit, high-volume vehicle that the union desires and would likely demand before current members would ratify any contract proposal. For the automaker, the Ranger would mark a return to the midsize segment that would help it meet stricter fleet-wide fuel economy standards issued by the federal government.

Ford Motor Co. has plans to resurrect the Ford Ranger stateside and to move forward with production of the midsize truck, but the two sides must agree that the Ranger would be a great fit for the plant and its nearly 4,500 workers. Currently Ford builds the Ranger in South Africa, Argentina, Thailand, and Nigeria for 180 overseas markets. The last Ranger rolled off of the line in 2011 at Ford's now-shuttered Twin Cities Assembly Plant in Minnesota.
