The new technology uses a state-of-the-art camera and radar system that is constantly scanning the roadway ahead. If any risk is detected on the road, a warning is sent to the driver. If the driver does not respond in time, the system automatically applies the breaks. How incredible is that? This system works at all speeds with the camera mounted in the windshield and a radar detector near the bumper. Each containing a database that distinguishes the difference between road side objects and actual people. The new system was tested for months on closed tracks with manikins to represent pedestrians, resulting in a very reliable feature. The product will first appear later this year in the European 2015 Ford Mondeo and will eventually be available on Ford and Lincoln products around the world!

Although Ford's Pre-Collision Assists in Avoiding Frontal Crashes with Pedestrian Detection System, it cannot substitute for the actual driver!
