Every one of the 8,000 skilled trades and production workers employed by Ford Motor Company have undergone training programs and those working on the toughest, smartest, most capable F-150 yet are no exception. Ford begins intensive training programs for the upcoming F-150 production at the Kansas City Assembly Plant, enhancing each worker's knowledge of the latest in
advanced materials and forming and joining technologies. Considering that the all-new F-150 is one of Ford's most advanced vehicles, it is vital
that more than 400 hours of in-class and hands-on courses be completed by workers so that they are able to learn the proper operation of the newest assembly equipment.
One of the most unique elements of Ford's intensive training program for upcoming F-150 production is the "train the trainer" model, which requires the workers to become subject matter experts on the new equipment and train the crew they work with on a daily basis. Thus far, the training program has help to successfully launch the all-new 2015 F-150 at the Dearborn Truck Plant in Michigan and will soon help the Kansas City Plant to begin production by the end of the first quarter of 2015. Together, the plants will have the ability to produce more than 700,000 Ford F-150 pickups per year for over 90 markets around the globe.
