NOWALK, Ohio - Today, Ford Motor Co. released its 16th Annual Sustainability Report which highlights its exceptional achievement of several environmental goals. These achievements include Ford becoming landfill-free in all of its Mexico manufacturing facilities, the use of industry-exclusive REPREVE fiber in the all-new 2015 Ford F-150, which will divert more than 5 million plastic bottles from landfills, and– guided by the Ford Smart Mobility plan– the auto company's global mobility experiments are currently testing new ideas to address rising transportation challenges.
Ford has always strived toward being on the leading edge of changing the way the world moves, while also keeping a wary eye on the effect it has on the environment. Highlighting these trends is important and that's why Ford has released its environmental goals for 2015 to the public. Leading the report is Ford's achievement in reducing global waste-to-landfill by announcing that the Hermosillo Stamping and Assembly Plant attained zero waste-to-landfill status earlier in 2015, which gives the automotive company the distinction of now being 100% landfill free in all of its Mexican manufacturing plants and facilities. Due to this, Ford is now diverting 1.5 million pounds of landfill waste this year and every year moving forward.
Ford has released its environmental goals for 2015 to the public, and Andy Hobbs, director of Ford Environmental Quality Office stated, "Ford is proud that all of its manufacturing facilities in Mexico are sending zero waste to landfills." This is a project the auto company has been working on for a while, producing a 40% decrease of vehicle waste-to-landfill from 2007 to 2011, and seeks to have the same result from 2011 to 2016.
