Ford is the very first automaker to offer in-car use of Life360 - a popular family locator application that helps family members and close friends stay in touch throughout their busy day. This app allows users to see where their family and friends are with help of a private map, it allows them to communicate through one-to-one or group messages, and can even get them help in the state of an emergency. Since its initial launch in 2008, Life360 has acquired over 48 million users worldwide and will soon be available behind the wheel of Ford SYNC-equppied vehicles.
Life360 has been reconstructed and now features a Drive Mode for Ford SYNC AppLink users. Once the user's smartphone is connected to Ford SYNC, it will prompt the Drive Mode feature and will send a message to everyone in the driver's Life360 circle suggesting that they do not text the driver. Once the driver arrives to his or her destination and turns of the vehicle, a follow-up message will be sent to their circle. Drivers will also have the ability to check the most recent location of family members through the SYNC display or with voice commands such as "Where is Mom?". The system can then pinpoint the person's location and address on the map.
Ford and Life360 will be presenting the app at the 2015 International CES in Las Vegas on January 6th through the 9th.
